On Friday afternoon, pupils from Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 gathered in the assembly hall to celebrate the fantastic progress made in the Accelerated Reading program throughout the week.
One pupil from each class received the “Star Reader” award for making a particular effort with their reading. This week’s winners were:
- Ben O’Hara (P3)
- Finn McGoldrick (P4)
- Cadhla Moore (P5)
- Maja Kiernan (P6)
- Brendan Comiskey (P7)
Special prizes were also given to pupils who read exceptionally high amounts of words throughout the week:
- P3 - Ben O’Hara (6,000 words)
- P4 - Claire McElvanna (85,000 words)
- P5 - Sean Mallon (106,000 words)
- P6 Aoibhriona Grimley (46,000 words)
- P7 Ella Toal (123,000 words)
The pupils at St. Joseph’s have completed fantastic work as a result of taking part in Acclerated Reading program this term. After only three weeks, many of the pupils have now reached their personal reading target! At this stage, pupils should have reached approximately 50% of their personal target. Keep up the brilliant work!
