Accelerated Reading Awards
On Friday 25th September, children from Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 gathered to celebrate the hard work of pupils during thethird week of the Accelerated Reading scheme. Firstly, pupils who have been making a special effort were awarded with with a Star reader prize. This week the star readers were:
- Cara Smith
- Aoibheann McCusker
- Roisaorlaith Grimley
- Caolan McGoldrick
- Pearse Grimley
Incredibly, after only thre weeks, more pupils have now reached their personal targets. These readers have been working extremely hard and are now aiming to become word millionaires:
- Jack Hughes
- Milo Smith
- Liam McGarvey
- Cara McGeary
- Cadhla Tohill
- Caitlin Maginness
- Dawn Smith
Awards were also given to pupils from each class who have reached particularly high word counts:
- P3 Ben Smith 4,937 words
- P4 Caolan Fitzpatrick 40,084 words
- P5 Annie Fitzpatrick 46,900 words
- P6 Danu McKinney 95,124 words
- P7 Jessica Hughes 58,549 words
Thus far, the effort made by pupils in the accelerated reading scheme has been brilliant. Well done boys and girls! Keep up the hard work!
At this point in the programme, pupils should have achieved approximately 45% of their personal targets.
