Congratulations John and Louise
Following the completion of a poetry workshop at the Navan centre, P7 pupils John Hughes and Louise Mallon were selected as winners of the Navan poetry competition.
The theme of this year's competition was "The Armagh Railway Disaster". John and Louise recited their poems to a packed auditorium at the Navan Centre on Wednesday 27th November:
Disaster Strikes
Blood drenches the ground,
Screams echo in the air,
Twisted steel dances around,
People need urgent care,
Enter the wreckage if you dare,
For the smoke is coming near,
Fear is here,
Fires blaze,
Bodies rage,
Screams rise,
SOS
It’s a disaster day.

The wreckage
Cunningly the metal snake
Slithered along the railway line,
nothing could stop this metal monster.
Motionless bodies lay on rock hard ground.
Scarlet blood flooded the earth.
Destruction had made history!
An old steam train was no more,
only a wreckage.
