On Friday 24th February, children from Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 gathered to celebrate the hard work of pupils during the final week of the Accelerated Reading scheme.
This week all remaining children reached their personal targets receiving the second part of their golden ticket to Funtasia Waterpark. Ethan McGarvey also reached the incredible goal of reading one million words whilst Sean Woods, Eimear MCGeary, Amy Toner and Cadhla Tohill have read 500,000 words.
Awards were also given to pupils from each class who have reached particularly high word counts:
- P3 Niamh McElvanna 25,328 words
- P4 Ella Toal 39,847 words
- P5 Cadhla Tohill 98,856 words
- P6 Roise McGeary 114,787 words
- P7 Ethan McGarvey 144,329 words
There were also a number of pupils who have been able to double, treble and even quadruple their personal targets. Thus far, the effort made by pupils in the accelerated reading scheme has been brilliant and all pupils are now only one term away from securing their ticket to Fantasia. Well done boys and girls! Keep up the hard work!
