P6 & P7 assembly + Accelerated Reading Awards
Thursday 14th February proved to be a very busy day at St. Joseph's. In the morning KS1 & KS2 children gathered to watch the P6 and P7 assembly. The theme of the assembly was Trocaire which offered an insight into the hardships of people around the world. It identified the wonderful work of aid agencies such as Trocaire and how we can help through the "trocaire box" campaign. The children performed brilliantly and deserve great praise for their efforts in preparing the assembly.
Following the assembly, Mr. Loughran presented awards to children who have been making a special effort through the Accelerated reading scheme. With only two weeks of the scheme remaining, awards were given to pupils from each class who over the course of the programme have been making excellent progress.
A special award was also given to Courtney Fisher, Colleen Comiskey, Damian Stelmach, Sophie Morgan and Emily McElvanna who have now reached their personal target.
Finally Mr. Loughran awarded Ella Hughes, Ryan Smith and Szymon Bulczak with a certificate for their hard work on the LEXIA programme.
Thus far, the effort made by pupils in the accelerated reading scheme has been brilliant. Well done boys and girls! Keep up the hard work!
