Primary 3 & 4 visit the Palace Stables
On Wednesday, 20th October, Children from Primary 3 and 4 visited the Palace Stables in Armagh. There they enjoyed a range of activities to celebrate “National Apple Week” as a follow up to their topic work in school.
The children were introduced to several characters dressed from the 1760’s, who would have worked for the then Archbishop in the palace.
Frederick the “farm warden” taught the children about making juice with an apple press. Everyone then got a chance to dunk for apples – even Mrs Brolly!
In the kitchen the chief scullery maid got the children involved in making potato apple bread – Mmmm! Unfortunately they didn’t get to taste any of it!
Children were also allowed to make a lovely apple picture frame as part of the Art and Craft activity. To round of the afternoon Paul involved everyone in role play – following the journey of the apple from the tree to apple juice in the home. Overall, a very enjoyable afternoon was had by all.
