Young writer & accelerated reading awards
Thursday 2nd October proved to be a busy day for all at St. Joseph's. In the morning staff and pupils gathered to listen to samples of work from each class in the school. This month children focussed on writing book reviews. The "young writers" read their work very confidently and the standard was brilliant.
Certificates were also awarded by class teachers, to children who were working very hard or who had contributed to school life.
Later, children from Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 gathered to celebrate the hard work of pupils during the third week of the Accelerated Reading scheme.
Firstly, pupils who have been making a special effort were awarded withk with a Star reader certificate. Awards were also given to pupils from each class who have reached particularly high word counts. This week the winners were:
Primary 3: Cadhla Tohill - 21,089 words
Primary 4: Dylan Crilly - 72,685 words
Primary 5: Danu McKinney 165,278 words
Primary 6: Niamh Maginess: 112,511 words
Primary 7: Niamh McElvanna 237,631 words
Thus far, the effort made by pupils in the accelerated reading scheme has been brilliant. Well done boys and girls! Keep up the hard work!
